Few weeks ago I was traveling back home from office after a hectic schedule. I was the only passenger in the vehicle. Just after we started here is the conversation that took place between me & the driver – Me:Can you switch on the Radio? Driver: There is no Radio in the vehicle saar. Only FM is there. Me: O! what! …… …… ….. ok whatever, switch it on! Have a nice weekend 🙂

Magic with words

I was reading ‘Sanna Kathegalu – Volume 1‘, short stories by Maasti Venkatesh Iyengar, and there was this short poem in one of the stories. When I read it first, it felt familiar. It took me some time to make out the original rhyme. What a magic with words. Kannada What a wonderful language it is. Wonderful translation done here. Any guess on the original poem? 😉 Speaking about translation works, B>M Sri has done an amazing work in translating English poems to Kannada. Karunaalu baa belake is one such example. Original is here – Lead, kindly Light

Flower Fest

Couple of weekes ago, I was blog-hopping – jumping from one blog to another. And came across this blog Flower Fest. A letter will be chosen every fortnight. Anyone can contribute painting, sketch, or a photograph of flowers starting with that name. Here is what they say about the theme – Flower Fest is the brainchild of Nature & Me, spurred on by Sree. Flower Fest is the A-Z of flowers. Two weeks for each letter of the alphabet. Starting on September 10, 2006 with the letter A. Botanical name or common name. Either is fine. Paint. Sketch. Doodle. Photograph. Your choice. By the time I saw this blog, it […]

Lagori

Last Sunday, I played Lagori again. I had been to a temple near Tumkur with family. I saw two guys (Udaya & Chandana) playing Lagori in the temple premises. I was tempted to join them. As an ice-breaker, clicked few of photos of them playing, showed them and asked whether I can join them. And next minute I was playing with them. I played with them for more than half an hour. I was back to my school days. After sometime, my sister came looking for me as it was lunch time. She stood at a distance watching me playing with the kids. After some 10 minutes she called me […]

Growing old

This incident happened almost 8-9 months ago and guess this is an apt time to share it with you people. I was waiting in the reception of AFB(Alliance Francaise de Bangalore) to get my level 1 certificate. The receptionist was busy searching for it. An elderly woman (refered as Aunty from here onwards) was standing next to me, guess she was waiting for the receptionist to get some details. She started the conversation — Aunty: Are you a student here? Me: Yeah, just finished level 1a & 1b. Got to enroll for next level. Aunty: Have you given 10th exams this time? Me(with a sheepish grin): Wanted to appear this […]

Google Reader

Whenever Google comes up with a new application or tool, it never disappointed me. Be it Gmail, Calender, Spreadsheets, Picasa, Video – the list goes on. And adding to this list is Google reader. To keep track plethora of blogs getting updated, I have been using Bloglines for more than a year by subscribing to RSS feeds. My first impression that was alomost 3-4 months ago, when I saw Google Reader, I was not impressed. So I stuck to Bloglines with almost more than 80 feeds in my account. Couple of weeks ago by chance happened to visit Google reader again and in the next half an hour my loyalty […]

Neenaanaadre Naaneenena

Neenaanaadre Naaneenena (in Kannada) translates to – “If you are me, then am I you?“. Its a Kannada version of William Shakespeare’s “Comedy of Errors“. Scripted by S. Surendranath in Kannada on the same theme with a slight change in characters. Happened to watch the drama ‘Neenaanaadre Naaneenena’ in Rangashankara yesterday. A total laughter riot for complete 2 hours – one obsessed to detective novels, other with Shayars, anohter is a deaf, fourth sings a song with every dailogue. Wonderful performance by Srinvas Prabhu, Sihikahi Chandru, Jahangir and others. Would love to wahtc it again. To add to this was company of taleneted Mukta balaga members – Pransesh Sir, Usha, […]
